A Surreal Allegory – Human Birds
The idea for ‘Human Birds’ struck me whilst doodling at University in 2005. Although the original
paintings solely depicted cats and birds with faces, the theme has now evolved into a more human
figurative style with inspiration from artists like Cooper, Bellany, Chambers and Klein. I still include imagery
and icons from my original ‘Bird’ paintings into current works, hence this gallery is still named after them.
The paintings in this collection are idiosyncratic and allegorical but contain no intentional
hidden meanings; it is therefore up to the viewer to interpret them as they wish.
